I crisscross it on top of each other to save the charcoal from fall off to the bottom too soon. I ordered this to replace my OEM grate and it works perfectly. My original unit was warped from occasionally leaving the charcoal ignition gas burner on too long. That said, if you're handy, the original unit can be wire wheeled or media blasted clean, heated up with a torch and pounded back flat to a "like new" appearance. They make these out of some pretty tough stainless steel and they can take a beating. The bars on the charcoal grates had gotten very thin with wear and were bent into a concave shape. I had no desire to spend the 80 plus dollars on a new weber since the kettle part of mine is still in great shape. The replacement grates were a perfect solution, they fit just as well as the originals and were a much cheaper solution. Now I am ready to continue using my weber for another 20 years! |
